Wilsons fame was surpassed by the U.S. in 2014 when she landed a role in Showtimes The Affair. In the show, she played Alison Lockhart who is a young woman who is troubled and comes with a dark past. Lockhart falls for an unmarried Noah Solloway. The show, which also featured Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson was a hit for both critics and viewers alike and won Wilson a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the field of Television Series Drama in 2015. I loved the opportunity to portray a character with both points of view Wilson told British Vogue in 2015. Noah thinks of Alison in this confident reckless and sexy model of herself. However, Alison sees herself in a completely other way. Inside, she is dowdy. She stated: America has become so moralist and judging that the events in this show appear alarming. Wilson was a part of the show until 2018 after a lot of fans' surprise, however she wasn't clear on the specifics. On the CBS This Morning Interview in August 2018, Wilson said, "I did want to quit, but I'm unable to speak about the reasons for it." Wilson has now turned her attention to films. Wilson was a part of the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Who Lives in The House in 2016, and later in the rom-com with a sci-fi twist How to Talk to Girls at Parties, playing the cryptic PT Stella. In 2018, she will be adding another film of horror to her credits when she stars in the British adaptation of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller that is based on the novel by Sarah Waters. Wilson directs the production.
