Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor who has been featured in films and television as well as in stage productions, is known for her role as Teri Joseph, a fiery lawyer in the show Showtime's Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. While growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. At a Maryland high school competition during her first years of schooling, she won the prize for best actress. Apart from her role as a theater actress, she also worked with the Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her a degree in Acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her first role in a major film, was a huge success and earned her the admiration of many. After that, she appeared in movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". The TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. She has also starred in TV programs like Second Time Around" and Empire. Earlier on in her life she was a part of numerous stages. Parker also takes an active interest in politics is married to model and actor Boris Kodjoe. Two children were born to them.
Contractor, born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She had already experienced numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very early age. She went to boarding school between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. Later the family returned in Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became a classical ballerina. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school, where she did not only dance but studied theater as well. Contractor took the decision to study acting seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years dancing. She accepted a full-scholarship to study at the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's degree in theatre as well as a double major in psychology and social science. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year, she was given the lead part. She received rave reviews for her work during the 92 performances that the play was voted as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males with four females, and a handful of other people for a 20 weeks crash course. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the upcoming season of productions and was offered the part of Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
